Akkineni Nageswara Rao widely known as ANR in the Telugu cinema industry. He is an actor, producer, works predominantly to the industry. He started his film journey with stage dramas and variety of roles. His journey was mostly 75 years towards the industry. He later became the most important features to the history of Telugu film industry. He moved the total Telugu film industry from Madras to Hyderabad in early 60's. He found ANNAPURNA STUDIOS in the 1975 to support the new film industry in Hyderabad .He later started ANNAPURNA SCHOOL OF FILM AND MEDIA within Annapurna studios in 2011.
In the age of 17, ANR made his 1st movie "DARMAPATNI". He played the role of the hero's friend. He played a role of Lord Rama in Seeta Rama Jananam. Before he acted as a female roles in dramas, later he acted in 255 films in the span of 75 years. A majority of his films were both commercial and critical successes. He was the most romantic hero of those times. He performed romantic roles in his movies and a very little mythological roles.
HE has written a couple of books, "autobiography books, Nenu Na Jeevitham , Nenu Chusina America" and poetic manner of "Aa Aalu." Nageswara Rao received four state Nandi awards, and five Filmfare awards south. He is a recipient of the "DADA SAHEB PHALKE AWARD ", the highest honorary award for achievement in Indian cinema. He was also honored with the "PADMA VIBHUSHAN " , Indian second highest civilian award for his contribution towards the Indian cinema.
ANR was a active in social service .Pointing towards the sky once he said "IF THERE IS PRESENCE THERE . I'M SURE HE WILL WANT US TO PERFORM OUR DUTIES RATHER TO WORSHIP HIM BLINDLY ". ANR has done many works to help out the farmers in his village Ramapuram and also gave drinking water facility to his village he created scholarships to GITAM UNIVRESITY (VIZAG).He is the chief donor to the President of the collage at gudivada, which is named after him "AKKINENI NAGESWARA RAO COLLAGE".
On 19 th October 2013 announced that he was diagnosed with colon cancer. He continued shooting for his last film MANAM. Two weeks after a major laproscopic surgery, he surprised many that he wanted to act till his last breath and MANAM proved that. His last public appearance was the foundation day of Annapurna Studios and a week later, we heard the death of ANR, on 23rd January 2014. He was cremated on 23rd January 2014 at Annapurna studios with full state honors amid a 21-gun salute. Thousands were present to pay their last respect.
